Amazon Web Services, a cloud-based service provided by Amazon, suffered an outage on Tuesday that impacted thousands of users, according to outage tracking website, Downdetector.com. Although the exact number of affected users is not available, more than 10,000 reported issues with accessing the service. The outage appeared to affect a larger number of users, with most reporting problems with the AWS website, while some encountered issues with the AWS console or complained of server connection errors. AWS dashboard has confirmed the outage, stating, “We are continuing to experience increased error rates and latencies for multiple AWS services in the US-EAST-1 region. We have identified the root cause as an issue with AWS Lambda, and are actively working toward resolution.” An update timed at 12.26 pm PDT on June 13, further confirmed that AWS Lambda was responsible for the elevated errors of invoking AWS Lambda functions, and they were working to resolve the issue.
