‘This is actually awesome’ say iPhone fans after finding ‘secret menu’ that lets you see notifications faster

THERE’S a little-known iPhone trick that can help you track down notifications much faster.

It’s hidden in a secret menu that is extremely easy to miss.

If you’ve got plenty of apps, it’s possible that you’ve sensibly tucked them away in folders.

When an app in that folder has a notification, a red bubble will appear on the folder.

But it can be very annoying to locate the app inside that folder with the notification, especially if it’s packed.

Thankfully, an iPhone owner found a genius solution and shared it in a Reddit thread.

“I just found a nice feature I didn’t know about,” the Reddit user explained.

“I had no idea you could do this. But I just found out that when long pressing on a folder where a badge is showing you can see a preview of which apps are flagging a badge.

“Kind of useful if you have multiple apps in a single bundle and don’t want to scroll through them all to find which is sending a notification.”

Try it: look for a folder with a red notification badge then hold your finger down on it.

This will bring up a sub-menu and list the apps with notifications at the bottom.

Fans were impressed with the feature, with one replying: “This is actually awesome.”

MENU MAGIC

Better still, many apps have their own versions of this menu for quick-access features.

Usually, if you hold your finger down on an app, it will pop up with a special menu with some of its most popular functions.

For instance, holding down on Apple’s Messages app gives you quick access to specific conversations.

And if you hold down on Phone, you’ll get options to quickly create or search for contacts – as well as view your most recent voicemail or call.

Apple Maps offers quick-menu options to mark or send your current location, as well as Search Nearby.

And Photos includes the following options: Search, One Year Ago, Favorites, and Most Recent.

It’s not just Apple’s own apps that do this, either.

Holding down on Instagram will let you view your notifications, make a new post, or quickly navigate to the camera.

And if you hold down on WhatsApp, you can find your contact QR code to quickly share, as well as access Camera, New Chat, and Search.

Try it with the apps on your device to see which quick menu options could save you time.
