PITTSFIELD – An internet service outage is affecting central Berkshire County, including The Berkshire Eagle newsroom, amid a windy spring storm.
The business, at 75 South Church Street, lost connectivity at about 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
According to the downdetector.com website there were 22 Spectrum internet outages reported in Pittsfield as of 3:07 p.m.
On its Facebook page Wednesday afternoon, Zinky’s Pub in Dalton reported that it was open and serving food and drinks, but “only able to accept cash sales until our internet comes back up.”
Charter Communications Northeast spokesperson Lara Pritchard said service is out for Spectrum customers serviced by the company’s Pittsfield and Lee network hubs “due to physical storm damage in the area.”
“Our teams are ready and waiting for downed commercial power lines in the to be cleared in the impacted area. Once the area is deemed safe, our teams will head in and assess potential physical storm damage of our network,” she said.
Pritchard noted that customers who regain power might not get their connectivity back at the same time, because service has yet to be restored where Charter’s network hubs are located.
Eversource was reporting outages throughout the county, including Hancock, Pittsfield, Dalton and Hinsdale, as of late Wednesday afternoon.
A high wind warning is in place until 10 a.m. Thursday, and a winter storm warning remains in effect through 6 a.m. Friday, according to the National Weather Service.
