The Rising of the Shield Hero anime is returning with a third season, and a trailer previewing the upcoming story, characters, and fights has been released.
The third season of the popular isekai anime is set to arrive in this year’s fall, in October 2023.
The anime adaptation of Aneko Yusagi’s light novel series debuted in 2019. The production of two further seasons was confirmed in September of that year.
What happened in The Rising of the Shield Hero
In the story so far, Naofumi Iwatani returns to Melromarc after defeating Kyo, who revived the Spirit Tortoise. However, another of the Four Guardian Beasts, the Phoenix, is about to review, and the three Cardinal Heroes are missing after they failed in the Spirit Tortoise battle.
Naofumi knows that Melromarc is not ready for the Phoenix, so he sets out to find the scattered members of Lurolona Village. His journey takes him to the land of Zeltoble, where he hears that some of the villagers were sold as slaves. Along with Raphtalia and Filo, Naofumi decides to participate in an underground combat arena to raise money to buy back the villagers.
The demi-humans, on the other hand, are seeking salvation as they have been persecuted for centuries. They believe that the Phoenix is their only hope for freedom.
The other three Cardinal Heroes are no longer the heroes they once were, and are basically a liability to Melromarc. As these plots converge, The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 3 will follow Naofumi’s struggle to follow the path he believes in.
