Mahindra Group chairman Anand Mahindra has been actively sharing pictures from his recent US tour on Twitter. During Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the US from June 21-24, Mahindra was part of the Indian business delegation. One event he attended was the India-US Hi-Tech Handshake, which aimed to strengthen ties in the high-tech sector. Other notable members of the delegation included Mukesh Ambani, chairman and managing director of Reliance Industries, Nikhil Kamath, co-founder of Zerodha and True Beacon, and Vrinda Kapoor, co-founder of 3rdiTech. The meeting also saw the participation of prominent American figures such as Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, Apple CEO Tim Cook, Google CEO Sundar Pichai, and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman.
After the event, Mahindra took to Twitter to share a memorable moment he had in Washington. He mentioned missing the group shuttle bus with Mukesh Ambani and Vrinda Kapoor and trying to call an Uber. However, they unexpectedly ran into NASA astronaut Sunita Williams (Astro_Suni) and ended up taking a selfie with her. Mahindra humorously added that they even asked if they could hitch a ride on her space shuttle instead of taking an Uber.
The business community in India has hailed Prime Minister Modi’s visit to the US as historic and groundbreaking. SP Shukla, chairman of Mahindra Defence and Aerospace, emphasized the importance of the visit and the message it sent about the partnership between the two nations. He highlighted the focus on technology as the foundation of this partnership. Additionally, Subhrakant Panda, President of FICCI, praised the visit for its substantive outcomes in areas such as semiconductors, defense acquisitions, access to critical technology, space cooperation, and the resolution of trade disputes.
R Dinesh, President of CII, specifically praised the mention of MSMEs (micro, small, and medium enterprises) in the joint statement between India and the US. He expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister for this development and emphasized the comprehensive approach taken towards strengthening the bilateral relationship.
Overall, the visit has been regarded as a significant step towards a mutually beneficial relationship between India and the US, with a focus on technology and strategic issues. It is expected to have positive implications not only for the two nations but also for the global community.
