As the highly anticipated release of Deadpool 3 draws near, discussions and rumors about its potential inspiration from The Flash have sparked debates among fans. Recently, Indiana Jones and his return in Dial of Destiny became the target of the angry Marvel fandom.
Moving away from all the excitement surrounding Deadpool and Wolverine’s appearance in Deadpool 3, director James Mangold unintentionally ignited the fury of the fans. In a lamenting comment about Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, Mangold expressed concern that future filmmakers will continue to exploit the character for profit, stating that they will “try to get as much liquid as they can squeeze out of that rag.”
Not surprisingly, Mangold’s comments were met with widespread disapproval. The upcoming Indiana Jones 5, which Mangold is directing, now faces criticism for his brief bout of honesty.
Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny will bring the iconic swashbuckling hero out of retirement, fifteen years after the release of Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. With Mangold at the helm, many have pointed out the hypocrisy of his comments regarding Wolverine’s future appearances.
Early reviews for Indiana Jones 5 have not been favorable, and Mangold’s comments about Wolverine have only worsened its reception.
Even Logan, which is generally well-received by critics, is now facing criticism.
Ironically, despite his concerns about Wolverine’s repeated appearances, Mangold seems to forget that he directed only two of the nine movies featuring the Marvel superhero.
