The Day Before Final Trailer Reveals December 7 Early Access Date

The saga of The Day Before just got a new chapter as developer Fntastic published the game’s final trailer and revealed that the game would be released on December 7 in early access instead of the prior November 10th date.

The new video also provides plenty of gameplay details that fans have been waiting for. The setting is the East Coast of the United States, specifically a fictional location called New Fortune City, following a deadly zombie pandemic. Players will begin The Day Before rescued by the survivors of the Woodberry colony. That’s where they’ll create their characters, choosing from a variety of customization options.

Woodberry survivors are working to rebuild the community, constantly needing supplies, building materials, and various items. Your main task is to bring as much valuable loot as possible, and in return, you will be rewarded with the local currency, known as Woodberry Coins.

Woodberry Coins can be exchanged for:

  • Ammo, from regular to armor-piercing;
  • Weapons;
  • Protective equipment;
  • Backpacks;
  • Food, drinks, and medicines;
  • SPA access to relax;
  • A gym to work out.
  • Cars to access distant locations

Keep track of your health, hunger, and thirst indicators, and remember: dangers are everywhere here, ranging from the vicious infected to other players who are ready to take everything from you.  We’ve designed survival in this world to be a  thrilling experience. The weapons, which can be modified, are made with maximum realism to ensure that combat remains deep and engaging at all times. Each weapon boasts unique characteristics,  as well as realistic reload and recoil mechanics. Completing various community tasks also presents an opportunity to earn Woodberry Coins.

You will also receive your own ranch, where you can purchase and upgrade houses,  as well as install furniture and decorations. The ranch serves as your cozy, safe oasis amidst the post-apocalyptic chaos. Safeguard your accumulated items by storing them in secure storage.

The game originally appeared on Steam in early 2021, showing a remarkable similarity to games like Ubisoft Massive’s The Division and Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us. We quickly interviewed the development team to learn more while The Day Before rose to become one of the most wishlisted games on Steam.

However, fans were discouraged by several delays. The first was caused by the switch to Unreal Engine 5. Later, yet another delay was caused by trademark issues, which also led to The Day Before disappearing on Steam. At last, the game is back on Valve’s store following a successful victory in the IP tribunal.

According to the Steam page, The Day Before will stay in early access for six to eight months. The price in early access will be $39, to be increased to $49 when the full version is released. This is also when the developers plan to launch the console versions.
