SuperGaming, a Pune-Based Game Studio, Receives Investment from Bandai Namco

Bandai Namco Entertainment, the renowned Japanese game publisher recognized for creating popular titles like Elden Ring, Dark Souls trilogy, and Pac-Man, has recently made an investment in SuperGaming, a Pune-based game developer. This investment was made through Bandai Namco Entertainment 021 Fund, a dedicated fund that focuses on investing in startups and building an “IP metaverse.” Alongside SuperGaming, the fund has also invested in Deepmotion, a US-based company. The establishment of this fund last year was a strategic move by Bandai Namco Entertainment to embrace the potential of Web3 and other metaverse-related developments. The exact amount of the investment is undisclosed, but the fund typically ranges from ¥10 million to ¥500 million.
According to Roby John, the co-founder and CEO of SuperGaming, “Working on PAC-MAN was a dream come true for me. Having Bandai Namco invest in us is the ultimate validation for SuperGaming, and we feel incredibly honored to have them join us on our journey of creating long-lasting games.” Although SuperGaming is well-known for its mobile game portfolio, including popular titles like Silly Royale and MaskGun, they also have a cloud-based game development engine called SuperPlatform. This technology, developed in collaboration with Google Cloud, allows game developers to build games from scratch, encompassing assets, analytics, player data management, and monetization. It is compatible with Unity, Unreal Engine, PlayCanvas, and Cocos Creator.
The statement from Bandai Namco Entertainment highlights their aim to expand their business by leveraging their expertise in intellectual properties (IPs) and gaining a deeper understanding of the growing Asian market. Additionally, the company has also invested in DeepMotion, a leader in AI-powered motion capture and real-time body tracking, with the intention of creating new and immersive entertainment experiences.
Meanwhile, SuperGaming is currently focused on developing their upcoming game, Indus, an indo-futuristic battle-royale title set on a floating island. In this game, players assume the role of Mythwalkers, hired guns working for the COVEN organization, on a mission to hunt for the rare mineral called Cosmium, which possesses the power to manipulate space and time. Similar to other battle-royale games, players must scavenge for supplies, survive, and eliminate their opponents to emerge victorious. However, a unique aspect of Indus is the introduction of Cosmium spawning at random intervals on the map, granting immediate victory to whoever claims it. SuperGaming has also incorporated Heena Sidhu, an Olympic pistol shooter, as a playable character in Indus. Pre-registrations for the game are currently open on the Google Play Store.
Overall, Bandai Namco Entertainment’s investment in SuperGaming and DeepMotion symbolizes their commitment to innovation and collaboration in the gaming industry.
