Street Fighter 6 tier list – best characters August 2023

Who appears on the Street Fighter 6 tier list? To achieve victory, selecting a top-tier fighter is imperative. While loyalty to a specific character may be endearing, it will not lead you to success. The truth is, if winning games of Street Fighter 6 is your goal, you must choose an S-tier character. Our team has dedicated countless hours to testing every member of the Street Fighter 6 roster, providing you with an authoritative list of the best SF6 characters in Capcom’s fighting game. Please note that this SF6 tier list will evolve as updates are introduced.

Street Fighter 6 Tier List (August):
– S Tier: Ken, Luke, Guile, Cammy, JP
– A Tier: Manon, Zangief, Dee Jay, Blanka
– B Tier: Jamie, Ryu, Marisa, E. Honda, Chun-Li
– C Tier: Lily, Dhalsim, Kimberly, Juri

The inaugural Street Fighter 6 tournament, CEO 2023, took place in late June and showcased the power of some of these characters. Saul Leonardo ‘MenaRD’ Mena emerged as the champion, primarily utilizing Luke and later switching to Blanka. The Red Bull Kumite in South Africa occurred in early July, with Adel ‘Big Bird’ Anouche securing victory using the formidable Guile. Rashid has entered the game as the first DLC character on the roster, although it is too early to include him in our tier list. Nonetheless, his impressive aerial attacks from Street Fighter 5 seem promising in the new game.

S-Tier:
Based on our extensive experience with the game, we definitively deem these characters to be the best in Street Fighter 6.

Ken:
Ken has established himself not only as one of the strongest characters in Street Fighter 6 but also as one of the most popular statistically. Retaining his run mechanic from Street Fighter 5, Ken now boasts an expanded close-range toolset, rendering him unpredictable in close-quarters combat. Ken thrives when he corners his opponent, a task effortlessly achieved due to the impressive range of his special moves. For further insight into his devastating rush-down abilities, consult our Street Fighter 6 Ken guide.

Luke:
Luke may not possess the greatest complexity among the roster, but he possesses all the necessary tools to dominate the meta. His potent normal attacks afford him the ability to exert substantial pressure from a distance, complemented by his special attacks and super art for inflicting significant damage. We anticipated Luke’s strength when Street Fighter 6 was fully released, but he has surpassed our expectations. He secures victory in a matter of three solid combos, ensuring a formidable threat. For basic combos, refer to our Street Fighter 6 Luke guide.

Guile:
Facing an experienced Guile player is a daunting challenge; it may feel as though he possesses the perfect response to every action you take. Thanks to the introduction of the ‘Perfect’ mechanic, Guile’s Sonic Booms have reached unprecedented levels of power. His projectiles have impeccable timing, confounding opponents and leaving them vulnerable. Guile’s basic combos deliver devastating damage instantaneously, while his advanced combinations may endure for a considerable duration before culminating in a super art. Whether you are a novice or an expert, refer to our Street Fighter 6 Guile guide to acquaint yourself with his deadly moves.

Cammy:
Ever since her reintroduction in Street Fighter 4, Cammy has maintained her status as a formidable character due to her swift mobility and intricate moveset. Once she closes the distance with her opponent, breaking away from her becomes a considerable challenge, particularly with her long-range normal attacks. Combine this with her Hooligan Combination special attack, and opponents will be perplexed by her strategies. Given the prevalence of aggressive characters in Street Fighter 6, we expect Cammy to excel.

JP:
JP excels in zoning out opponents, employing a range of full to mid-screen projectiles. Mastering this character necessitates immense patience, as even a solitary error can result in a game spiraling out of control. As Kakeru demonstrated at the Gamers8 2023 Street Fighter 6 invitational, JP can be an unstoppable force in the hands of a skilled player, showcased through perfect parries that carried him to victory.

A-Tier:
The characters in A-tier possess the potential to contend against the world’s finest fighters, although they may lack that special X-factor capable of elevating them to the next level.

Manon:
Manon’s strength grows with each damaging command grab she executes, bestowing her with greater resilience in battle. Through the Medal system, Manon earns a Medal with every command grab connection, ultimately granting her access to Street Fighter 6’s most potent command grab once she accumulates five Medals. Moreover, these Medals carry over between rounds, rendering her progressively more dangerous as the game unfolds. With skilled players like iDom, the Capcom Cup 2019 winner, embracing Manon, it is evident that she poses a significant challenge for those unaccustomed to grappling characters.

Zangief:
The effectiveness of grapplers hinges upon the skill of their players, and Zangief has already attracted numerous high-level competitors ready to dominate. Zangief is renowned for his astonishing SPDs, capable of inflicting over 30% damage with a single throw. Punishing opponents three times is often sufficient to secure victory. Our experience against Zangief thus far has been limited, but he has the potential to become a formidable adversary, especially when considering modern controls.

Dee Jay:
Dee Jay epitomizes style and trickery, unleashing devastating combos while making his opponent appear foolish. Judging by our observations, Dee Jay possesses significant potential, especially when expert players exploit all his special move feints. Corners become a perilous place due to his ability to bait opponents into costly mistakes. Expert players have swiftly capitalized on his high-damage combos and mix-ups, decimating their adversaries with only a few opportunities.

Blanka:
Our initial assessment of Blanka grossly underestimated his capabilities, as we believed him to be the weakest character upon the game’s release. MenaRD’s triumph at the first Street Fighter 6 major tournament shattered our misconceptions, as he bewildered opponents with Blanka’s unpredictable moves. When Blanka incorporates his Blanka-Chan doll, it becomes immensely challenging to determine the appropriate blocking strategy. Blanka possesses untapped potential, and it would not be surprising to witness a surge in players selecting him following his success at CEO 2023.

B-Tier:
A formidable B-tier character can lull opponents into a false sense of security before delivering a crushing blow. Although these characters possess flaws, skilled players can compensate for them through tactical brilliance.

Jamie:
Street Fighter’s first drunken fist fighter and self-proclaimed guardian of Chinatown, Jamie draws inspiration from his Street Fighter 3 cousins, Yun and Yang. As our Street Fighter 6 Jamie guide illustrates, Jamie attains his full potential when he reaches drink level four. Achieving this level can prove challenging against certain characters, necessitating a spare moment to drink from his gourd or landing a clean combo. To make matters more demanding, Jamie loses his drink level after each round, forcing players to methodically navigate the challenges presented.
