Netflix has announced an exciting addition to the cast of Stranger Things Season 5: Linda Hamilton, beloved star of the Terminator franchise. This revelation came during Tudum 2023, Netflix’s annual fan event. While the character Hamilton will portray remains unconfirmed, considering that Season 5 will be the final installment in the mainline series, it is expected that Hamilton’s role will be significant. After all, you don’t hire someone like Sarah Connors, the iconic character Hamilton played in the Terminator films, for a minor part.
Hamilton’s extensive filmography includes numerous notable roles, but her portrayal of Sarah Connors in the Terminator series is undoubtedly her most iconic. The first Terminator film in 1984 propelled Hamilton and her co-star Arnold Schwarzenegger into the spotlight, and the duo continued to feature in subsequent Terminator movies over the past four decades.
Their most recent collaboration was in 2019’s Dark Fate, a direct sequel to 1989’s Terminator 2: Judgement Day. While the film received positive reviews, it did not achieve significant global box office success. Since then, Hamilton has appeared in various TV shows, including Big City Greens, Resident Alien, and Claws. However, her addition to the Stranger Things cast marks her most significant small screen role in a decade.
Stranger Things Season 5 is yet to begin filming due to the ongoing writer strike. However, according to the show’s creators, Matt and Ross Duffer, it promises to be the deadliest season yet. Additionally, fans can look forward to more Stranger Things content, including a stage play called The First Shadow, set to debut in London’s West End in late 2023. There is also an animated TV show in development at Upside Down Pictures, the production company established by the Duffer brothers in 2022.
