In today’s issue of Batman: The Brave And The Bold #2 from DC Comics, Tom King and Mitch Gerads delve into the early days of Jim Gordon.

Today’s Batman: The Brave And The Bold #2 continues the ongoing dark Batman and Joker narrative, but readers should note that it will be skipping an issue and will only resume in issue #4 of the new DC Comics anthology series. However, this provides Tom King and Mitch Gerads with an opportunity to explore the untapped past of Jim Gordon. While the Gotham TV series showcased Peter Gordon as the District Attorney for Gotham and a member of the Court Of Owls, his story was tragically cut short when he was manipulated into a fatal car accident. The comics, on the other hand, have not yet explored much about Jim Gordon’s father. Until now.

When Jim was young, his father tragically took his own life, possibly in front of Jim himself. This event marked Jim Gordon’s “One Bad Day” and has shaped him into the dedicated police officer he is today. Perhaps, in a way, being a police officer has been his true identity all along. After all, criminals are easily intimidated and fearful, making the uniform of a police officer his ultimate disguise.
