In a surprising turn of events, the legendary game developer Hideo Kojima made an appearance at Apple’s WWDC 2023 event. He announced that Death Stranding’s Director’s Cut would be coming to Mac.
Kojima expressed admiration for Apple’s efforts to enhance the gaming experiences on Mac. In addition to Death Stranding, he is actively working on bringing future Kojima Productions’ titles to Mac. However, he has not yet revealed any names.
During WWDC 2023, Apple announced that their next MacOS, Sonoma, will feature a “Game Mode” designed to improve latency for PlayStation and Xbox controllers. The Game Mode will also reduce background tasks, prioritizing GPU and CPU performance for gaming. This feature sounds similar to Microsoft’s game mode for Windows and works with any game, according to Apple.
Kojima is not the first celebrated game designer to grace Apple’s stage. Shigeru Miyamoto, creator of Mario, appeared at an Apple event in 2016 to reveal Super Mario Run.
The Death Stranding Director’s Cut for Mac will soon be available for pre-order and will launch later in 2023. Kojima has multiple projects in the works, including Death Stranding 2 and a new Xbox game. He is also working on a Death Stranding movie.
In addition to enhancing gaming experiences on Mac, Apple offers the Apple Arcade subscription service. For $5/month, subscribers can access a library of microtransaction-free titles.
