Sonos is set to release the highly anticipated Move 2, its second-generation portable speaker, at the end of September, according to an article by The Verge.
The Move 2 is expected to weigh slightly over six pounds, similar to its predecessor, but with notable improvements in battery life, connectivity, and audio performance.
One significant upgrade is the Move 2’s use of true stereo playback, featuring dual-angle tweeters for a more immersive sound experience. Additionally, it will include a dedicated woofer for enhanced bass and ‘Automatic Trueplay’ technology, which optimizes sound quality based on your position. The battery life of the Move 2 has also been extended, boasting up to 24 hours of continuous playback compared to the original Move.
Another exciting feature of the Move 2 is its ability to play Bluetooth audio throughout your Sonos ecosystem. This was not possible with the original Move. The speaker will also support line-in audio via a USB-C port, which can also be used for charging devices.
For outdoor use, the Move 2 offers IP56 dust and water resistance and features absorbent material to withstand accidental drops.
The device comes with a wireless charging base station that includes a detachable power adapter. It is equipped with Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0 technology. Moreover, there is a new switch on the back to disable the speaker’s microphone. While it doesn’t support Google Assistant, it is compatible with Alexa and Sonos Voice Control.
Additionally, the Move 2 introduces a stylish new green color variant.
