The latest drop of Android 14 Beta 3 has unveiled exciting new lock screen customizations. However, one highly-anticipated feature teased during the I/O 2023, the emoji wallpaper, was not included. It has been revealed that this feature is slowly being introduced via an APK called ‘Emoji Workshop Wallpaper’, which has recently been spotted by the Google News Telegram channel. While the app is already installed on some devices, the emoji wallpaper is not yet available. Android Police suggests that restarting the phone and force-stopping the ‘Wallpaper & style’ app might solve the issue. Once accessed, users can create their emoji wallpaper by choosing from five different patterns and several color options. Users can add up to 14 emojis to their wallpaper. Interestingly, when the phone is plugged in, all emojis briefly turn into lightning bolts. Android Police notes that the share button is currently broken, and some wallpapers can be edited, while others cannot. Those not on Android 14 can sideload the APK onto Pixel phones running Android 13, but this feature is not yet operational.
