SDCC Introduces Activating ‘Interview With the Vampire’

At events like San Diego Comic-Con, fans anticipate immersive activations that transport them to the worlds of their favorite movies and TV shows. This year, fans of vampires and witches will have the opportunity to embrace the personas of early 20th century characters and stroll down “The Street of Immortality,” a recreation of iconic locations from Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire and Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches.

Both series, based on novels by the legendary author Anne Rice, have been adapted as part of AMC’s Anne Rice Immortal Universe. The network has meticulously recreated sections of New Orleans, an essential setting for both series, known for its vibrant culture that makes it an enticing destination.

The route along The Street of Immortality will feature beautifully decorated spots that offer the perfect backdrop for attendees to capture snapshots and videos. These spots include iconic buildings from the series, such as Hotel Iberville and Nawlins Records. Attendees will also have the opportunity to collect exclusive souvenirs and enjoy unique experiences like sipping on “The Elixir of Immortality” mocktail.

As AMC’s Anne Rice Immortal Universe takes shape, fans can expect more exciting developments. The premiere of Interview with the Vampire in October 2022, a modern retelling of the beloved movie starring Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt, brought back the unforgettable story with added depth and exploration of additional characters, including the enigmatic Lestat played by Sam Reid. Two months later, Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches expanded the universe with its own compelling narrative. Both series have already been renewed for a second season, although production is currently on hold due to the WGA and SAG strike.

These two series are just the beginning of AMC’s ambitious project. Mark Johnson, the executive producer, revealed that the network is already working on three more series based on Anne Rice’s works. While the official announcements are yet to come, it’s evident that these future series will be interconnected, allowing for exciting crossovers. The debut seasons of Interview with the Vampire and Mayfair Witches already hinted at some connections, and it’s likely that they will grow stronger as they share the same timeline.

AMC’s Street of Immortality can be found on the terrace of Hilton San Diego Gaslamp Quarter Hotel during SDCC, from Thursday (July 20) to Saturday (July 22).
