Announced at San Diego Comic-Con today, The Savage Sword of Conan returns in 2024 in a black-and-white, magazine-sized format.

During an exciting announcement at San Diego Comic-Con, Titan Comics and Heroic Signatures unveiled the highly anticipated return of The Savage Sword of Conan in 2024. This mature readers’ edition of Conan the Barbarian will be presented in a black-and-white, magazine-sized format.

The Savage Sword of Conan was originally published in 1974, featuring Robert E. Howard’s iconic character without the Comics Code Authority. The series showcased the work of renowned talents such as Roy Thomas, Neal Adams, Barry Windsor-Smith, John Buscema, and Walter Simonson.

To commemorate the 50-year anniversary of Conan the Barbarian, the magazine will hit comic shops in 2024. The creative team behind The Savage Sword of Conan includes John Arcudi, Frank Tieri, Patch Zircher, Howard Chaykin, Rafael Kayanan, Cary Nord, Rebeca Puebla, Dan Panosian, Richard Pace, Gerardo Zaffino, and more.

“Since the launch of our new comic book line, fans and creators have eagerly awaited the return of this iconic title, but only in its original black-and-white anthology magazine format,” remarks editor Matt Murray. “We couldn’t be more excited to finally reveal that Heroic Signatures and Titan Comics have been secretly planning this format all along. We aim to deliver a new and thrilling chapter in Conan’s savage story, living up to the expectations and legacy of the classic book.”

In addition to the announcement of The Savage Sword of Conan, the sales numbers for Conan the Barbarian #1 were revealed at SDCC. With over 80,000 orders, Conan #1 became the best-selling issue in Titan Comics’ history. Due to the high demand, a second printing and potentially a third printing are planned, making the debut issue’s final sales expected to surpass 100,000 copies.

Titan Publishing Director Ricky Claydon expresses his enthusiasm for the overwhelming response to Conan the Barbarian #1, saying, “Our team, along with our partners at Heroic Signatures, dedicated themselves to creating the ultimate Conan comic, and I believe we have achieved that. Jim’s and Roberto’s creation is truly exceptional! Thanks to the remarkable support from our distribution partner Diamond Comics and our retail partners, this launch has been a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for all of us.”
