Samsung’s new Galaxy A55 5G & Galaxy A35 5G midrange phones have new security features built-in
Hot on the heels of Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S24 series, the South Korean company has now updated its mid-range offerings with the launch of the more affordable Samsung Galaxy A55 5G and Samsung Galaxy A35 5G smartphones.
The Galaxy A55 5G and Galaxy A35 5G will come with the latest Samsung One UI 6.1 (based on Android 14), with Samsung promising up to four generations of OS updates and five years of security updates.
Samsung Knox Vault will also be coming to A-series phones for the first time. Samsung Knox Vault is a hardware-based tamper-resistant security solution that protects critical data like passwords and PIN codes in a secure environment isolated from the main processor and memory.
Other features like Samsung Knox, Auto Blocker, Private Sharing and more are also included in the phones.
Samsung Galaxy A55 5G
The Galaxy A55 5G has a 6.6-inch FHD+ 120Hz refresh rate Super AMOLED display with Samsung’s Vision Booster feature that helps keep the screen legible under different lighting conditions. The phone is powered by the octa-core Exynos 1480 chipset and has an AMD RDNA2-based Xclipse 530 GPU.
The rear camera array consists of a 50MP main camera (f/1.8 aperture, AutoFocus, OIS), a 12MP ultra-wide camera, and a 5MP macro camera. The front selfie camera is a 32MP camera with a f/2.2 aperture.
A large 5,000mAh battery keeps the phone running, with 25W wired fast charging. A major difference in build quality this year for the Galaxy A55 5G is that the phone is using a metal frame instead of plastic (as seen on the A35 5G). There’s also expandable storage up to 1TB via a microSD card slot, and the phone has an IP67 dust and water protection rating.
The Samsung Galaxy A55 5G will come in four colours (Awesome Iceblue, Awesome Lilac, Awesome Lemon and Awesome Navy), with the 8GB+128GB and 8GB+256GB models available in Singapore. Pricing details are below.
Samsung Galaxy A35 5G
The Galaxy A35 5G is very similar to the Galaxy A55 5G, with the same 6.6-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display that has a 120Hz refresh rate and Vision Booster.
There’s also the same 5,000mAh battery inside with 25W wired fast charging. The big difference is that inside, it’s powered by the older Exynos 1380 processor that was used in the Galaxy A54 5G from last year. Storage is expandable up to 1TB via a microSD card slot, and the Galaxy A35 5G has an IP67 water and dust resistance rating.
The rear main camera is the same at 50MP with a f/1.8 aperture, AutoFocus and OIS, and the 5MP macro camera is unchanged as well. The ultra-wide camera uses a different 8MP sensor and there’s a 13MP front selfie camera with a f/2.2 aperture.
The Samsung Galaxy A35 5G is available in the same four colours (Awesome Iceblue, Awesome Lilac, Awesome Lemon and Awesome Navy), with a single 8GB+128GB model available in Singapore.

Both phones will be available in Singapore from 15 March 2024 onwards.
