Samsung’s next Galaxy XCover-series smartphone is coming to Europe, according to a new leak. It is tipped to hit the market with “nice” specs for its typically rugged category of Android devices. Nevertheless, it may also have an attractive price on its supposedly upcoming launch.

Historically, Samsung does not make a habit of updating its Galaxy XCover range of rugged smartphones all that regularly, possibly in an effort to underpin their status as utilitarian yet long-lasting devices. Then again, the series did see an upgrade in 2022, and is now tipped to get another in 2024.

Roland Quandt of WinFuture may inadvertently underpin the line’s reputation for indifferent specs by describing its allegedly next-gen variant as “nice for a rugged device like this”, despite its alleged 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage: specs that could very nearly be left behind with the XCover Pro in 2020.

Then again, the XCover7 is also believed to have the reasonably new Dimensity 6100 Plus chipset to drive its 6.6-inch FHD display – which, unlike its predecessor, has no mention of a 120Hz refresh rate yet. That might help explain why the alleged newer model is now projected to start at €400 (~$440) or less, whereas the 6 Pro is currently discounted from €609 down to €433 on Amazon.de today.
