Tilak Varma top-scored for the Mumbai Indians on Saturday (April 27) in the IPL 2024 match played against the Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. The left-handed batter came out to bat at No. 4 for the Hardik Pandya-led side and scored 63 runs from 32 balls in the 258-run chase. During his stay at the crease, he kept MI alive in the run chase and hammered four fours and as many sixes.
He completed his fifty with a boundary on the second ball of the 16th over, bowled by Lizaad Williams. After scoring his sixth fifty in 34 IPL matches played so far, 21-year-old Tilak came up with a special celebration that was dedicated to Samaira Sharma, who is the daughter of Indian men’s cricket team captain Rohit Sharma.
After the youngster, who made his IPL debut in 2022, came up with the heartwarming celebration, Rohit, who was watching the match from the dugout, appreciated Tilak’s gesture and gave a reaction that is now going viral on the internet.

In the IPL 2024 match against Delhi, Rohit was unable to do much with the bat and got out after making eight runs from eight balls. He was sent back to the pavilion by Khaleel Ahmed on the first ball of the 4th over of the 258-run chase. But before returning to the dugout, Rohit achieved a massive milestone.
He went past Virat Kohli’s tally of 1030 runs to become the leading run scorer in the IPL against the Delhi-based franchise. The 36-year-old Indian batter has 1034 runs to his name now in 35 IPL games against the Delhi Capitals.
The defeat against Delhi Capitals on Saturday was MI’s sixth defeat in nine matches played so far in IPL 2024, and with a total of six points, the five-time champions are ninth in the IPL 2024 points table.
