Marvel Studios has unveiled a slick new clip of their upcoming spy/espionage thriller Secret Invasion. This limited series, set to hit Disney+ on June 21, has already got fans clamoring for more. Secret Invasion sees the return of Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), who is forced to come back to Earth from space to confront a new threat from a Skrull rebel group.
The clip shows Fury and Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders) reuniting in a pub over a game of chess. Both characters seem worse for wear, and major tension is palpable in the air. Hill accuses Fury of abandoning his post and of being unfit to deal with the impending threats. She warns him that one wrong move could have catastrophic consequences.
The series promises to introduce new Skrull characters, with Gravik (Kingsley Ben-Adir) heading up the shadowy cabal of rebels. The rebels led by Gravik will provide formidable opposition to Fury and humanity’s leaders. Their small but fierce army, which can impersonate anyone at will, can infiltrate positions of influence with ease. Further complicating matters is the addition of Emilia Clarke, who plays G’iah, Talos’ daughter, bearing resentment towards Fury and her own father for the alleged failure of finding Skrulls a new home.
The series boasts a star cast comprising Don Cheadle, Olivia Colman, Dermot Mulroney, Martin Freeman, Charlayne Woodard, Killian Scott, Samuel Adewunmi, Christopher McDonald, Katie Finneran, and Carmen Ejogo.
