Elon Musk, the CEO of Twitter, has implemented a peculiar change today that limits the number of tweets users can view. On Saturday, Musk imposed restrictions on the number of daily posts users can see.
Verified users are now limited to viewing 6,000 posts per day, while unverified accounts can only see 600 posts per day. New unverified accounts have an even lower limit of 300 posts per day. However, Musk later announced that these rate limits would be increased to 8,000, 800, and 400 respectively.

According to Musk, this decision was prompted by concerns of data scraping and system manipulation. Whether true or not, it is likely that this move will prompt many users to abandon the platform.
Earlier on Saturday, numerous users complained about an outage on the service, when in fact, they had simply exceeded their daily limit. So, if you encounter error messages such as “Rate limit exceeded” or “Cannot retrieve tweets,” it means you have reached your daily limit.
Several hundred organizations (maybe more) were scraping Twitter data extremely aggressively, to the point where it was affecting the real user experience.
What should we do to stop that? I’m open to ideas.

Musk has also recently made another significant change to Twitter by restricting non-logged-in users from viewing tweets. Now, to read tweets, users must be logged into the platform.
Prior to this change, users were able to view public tweets and user profiles without being logged in or engaging through comments or likes.
There are rumors suggesting that this move may be a result of negotiations between Google and Twitter over cloud hosting, as reported by Platformer earlier this month.
