Reports Suggest Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon Set to Launch on August 25

Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon, the highly anticipated mech-crunching game from FromSoftware, is set to release on August 25, according to Insider Gaming. This falls in line with the previously reported 2023 release window and adds credibility to the summer release for the Global North. The game has already received a 12+ age rating in South Korea due to its violent content, which includes various weapon-based attacks and explosions.

FromSoftware unveiled a cinematic trailer for Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon at The Game Awards 2022. In a recent IGN interview, the studio confirmed that the game will deviate from its traditional souls-like structure. Previous rumors indicated a September-October release, but Insider Gaming’s sources point to a closer date.

Armored Core is one of FromSoftware’s early franchises, and the upcoming installment promises intense mecha robot battles in a dystopian post-apocalyptic world. Players will assemble and pilot their mechs with “3D manoeuvrability” to engage in fast-paced missions involving both ranged and melee combat.

While previous games in the series have been criticized for their clunky movement and camera controls, fans hope that FromSoftware’s experience with popular titles like Dark Souls 3, Bloodborne, and Elden Ring will lead to improvements in these areas. Development of Armored Core 6 began in 2016, and the game is directed by Masaru Yamamura, with Hidetaka Miyazaki focusing on the Elden Ring DLC.

One interesting mechanic being carried over from Sekiro is a posture-breaking system that inflicts significant damage. However, Yamamura clarified that this mechanic is not centered around counter-attacks or parrying. Instead, it aims to create a flow of constant offensive pressure on the enemy while allowing players to strategically attack and defend.

In addition to Armored Core 6, FromSoftware is also working on a major expansion for Elden Ring called Shadow of the Erdtree, which is currently in development for all platforms. The game recently received ray-tracing support, although it lacks upscaling options for Nvidia and AMD graphics cards.

Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon will be available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X. Fans can expect an immersive and action-packed experience when the game finally releases on August 25.
