Release Date Announced for ‘The Continental’ 3-Night Event

If you’re a fan of the John Wick franchise, then mark your calendars for three special dates. At this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, Collider’s Steve Weintraub moderated a panel discussing the upcoming series, “The Continental: From the World of John Wick”. The limited series will be released in three parts, with the first episode airing on September 22, followed by Night 2 on September 29, and Night 3 on October 6.

The series features Mel Gibson as Cormac, a crime kingpin, and Ayomide Adegun and Colin Woodell as younger versions of Charon and Winston Scott, who are prominent characters in the John Wick series. The cast also includes Misha Prada as NYPD detective KD, Jeremy Bobb as Mayhew, Jessica Allain as Lou, Hubert Point-Du Jour as Miles, Nhung Kate as Yen, and Ben Robson as Frankie, the older brother of Winston.

This prequel series focuses on Winston Scott, John Wick’s close friend and companion, and explores his early years. Viewers will witness how Winston becomes the owner of The Continental Hotel, a sanctuary for assassins in the 1970s. As the series unfolds, Winston finds himself facing a challenging situation that forces him to confront a past he longed to escape.

The World of Wick

The world-building and mythology within the John Wick films have played a significant role in the franchise’s success. The concept of a hotel chain that caters to assassins and offers concierge services is ripe for adaptation and a thrilling long-form storytelling experience. This makes “The Continental” an exciting prospect for fans of the Wick universe.

In addition to “The Continental”, fans can also anticipate the release of “Ballerina” on June 7, 2024. Directed by Len Wiseman, this film explores the events that take place between the third and fourth John Wick chapters. Ana de Armas stars as Rooney, alongside returning franchise veterans, such as McShane reprising his role as Winston, the late Lance Reddick as Charon in his final performance, and Keanu Reeves, who has a substantial role as John Wick in the spin-off.

“The Continental” will debut on Peacock on September 22. Here is a brief synopsis of the series:
