During the Summer Game Fest, we had the opportunity to try out Galacticare, an exciting new indie game developed by Brightrock Games and published by CULT Games. The game was recently teased and showcased a playable demo at Steam Next Fest, which is currently running until June 26th. Now, let’s dive into our thoughts on the gameplay experience.

In the midst of the Summer Game Fest: Play Days, we had the chance to experience Galacticare, an upcoming title that lets players create a cutting-edge hospital and provide top-notch healthcare to aliens from all corners of the galaxy. If this concept sounds familiar, it’s because Galacticare shares similarities with the popular game, Two Point Hospital. However, Galacticare goes beyond being a standard medical/business simulator by introducing unique gameplay elements that set it apart.

Setting up a hospital in Galacticare follows the standard format, requiring players to establish offices for doctors, examination rooms, treatment rooms, and a receptionist area to manage the influx of patients. What sets this game apart is the incorporation of technology into the hospital setup. For instance, a small robot janitor assists in cleaning up after messy individuals who neglect to dispose of trash properly. Additionally, a holographic doctor can quickly examine patients and expedite their transfer to relevant departments, although the possibility of errors exists. Real doctors require training in specific areas to provide advanced care, and it’s a straightforward process of providing them with necessary information and fulfilling their salary expectations.

Another fascinating aspect of Galacticare is the presence of a giant purple alien who acts as a roaming trade center. This alien offers the opportunity to purchase black market equipment and acquire unique items that enhance the healing and facility management process. However, it’s important to note that in a vast galaxy with countless unknown diseases, staying updated and prepared becomes a priority. Sometimes, acquiring non-standard gear becomes necessary to assist species that are beyond our reach. Diagnosing and treating these extraordinary cases provides immense satisfaction and adds a touch of excitement to the gameplay experience.

Galacticare offers a unique and captivating take on the genre, and the demo only scratches the surface of what the game has to offer. Exploring its vast possibilities and managing the various aspects of the hospital would undoubtedly provide hours of engaging gameplay. The demo is currently available for players to experiment with, and the full game is expected to be released sometime in 2023.
