In this week’s news: Microsoft announced a new Copilot key to Windows 11 PCs, the first major change to the Windows keyboard in nearly 30 years.

Keeping pace with news and developments in the real-time analytics market can be a daunting task. There is no doubt AI is now mainstream, thanks in part to the wide-scale embracement of ChatGPT and generative AI over the last year. Businesses are now routinely incorporating AI in day-to-day operations from the enterprise level down to the individual user.

This week, Microsoft showed just how integrated AI is with the announcement that it would add a new Copilot key to Windows 11 PCs. This is the first major change to Windows PC keyboards in roughly 30 years. The last such change was the addition of the Windows key.

In a way, the elevation of Copilot in this manner is the culmination of the work Microsoft has been doing with AI, in general, and Copilot, specifically, over the last year. In announcing the new key, Microsoft noted that over the year, it gave users a new way to search with Copilot in Bing, made it easier for users to work with Copilot for Microsoft 365, and most recently added the technology to PCs with Copilot in Windows.

Real-time analytics news in brief

Intel and DigitalBridge Group announced the formation of Articul8 AI, Inc. (Articul8), an independent company offering enterprise customers a full-stack, vertically-optimized, and secure generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) software platform. The platform delivers AI capabilities that keep customer data, training, and inference within the enterprise security perimeter. The platform also provides customers the choice of cloud, on-prem, or hybrid deployment.

Dremio and Carahsoft Technology announced a partnership. Under the agreement, Carahsoft will serve as Dremio’s Master Government Aggregator, making the company’s complete cloud and software portfolio for Government, Defense, Intelligence and Education available through Carahsoft’s reseller partners and NASA Solutions for Enterprise-Wide Procurement (SEWP) V, Information Technology Enterprise Solutions – Software 2 (ITES-SW2), National Association of State Procurement Officials (NASPO) ValuePoint, National Cooperative Purchasing Alliance (NCPA) and OMNIA Partners contracts.

Persistent Systems announced a multi-year Strategic Collaboration Agreement with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to accelerate the pace of innovation and development of generative AI solutions for clients. Through this teaming, Persistent will have access to additional resources from AWS to build proofs of concept to help clients identify tangible business outcomes from generative AI. One of the key benefits will be continued early access to AWS’s generative AI services and investments.

Virtusa announced a multi-year global Strategic Collaboration Agreement (SCA) with Amazon Web Services (AWS). As part of this collaboration, Virtusa has established the Generative AI & Data Lab. The aim is to speed up customers’ data migration to the cloud and modernize their IT services by integrating AI, machine learning (ML), and generative AI technologies. As part of the SCA, Virtusa opened four Generative AI Labs (Virtual, New York, London, and Singapore), with New York piloting both life sciences research use cases for a Fortune 50 company as well as quality control for Verint Systems.
