The Ayakashi Triangle manga has finished its run with its 144th chapter in Shonen Jump+ on September 25.
The manga by Kentaro Yabuki began in June 2020, and has over 15 volumes. The 16th and final volume is set to come out in Japan in December. The news of the manga’s end comes as its anime adaptation is set to air its final episode on September 26.
Ayakashi Triangle is about Matsuri Kazamaki, who is a high school student that is turned into a girl while saving his childhood friend Suzu Kanade from ayakashi, which are supernatural creatures in Japanese folklore. The manga has gender-swap elements, as Matsuri is a boy who turns into a girl because of Ayakashi King Shirogane’s curse. Matsuri and Suzu join forces to defeat the ayakashi, while they navigate their complex relationship.
With Ayakashi Triangle’s ending, not all storylines are completely finished. However, most of them are heading towards clear and expected endings, so readers can still get a sense of closure from the story.
Kentaro Yabuki is known for creating shonen series like Black Cat and ecchi series like To Love Ru and To Love Ru Darkness. He has a dedicated fanbase for his unique style, and Ayakashi Triangle attempted to blend both shonen and ecchi elements.
