Pokemon Go announced the first event of 2024, so here’s everything you need to know about the New Year’s 2024 event, including start and end dates, debuts, Raids, and more.

Pokemon Go had a very unique year, and while players are enjoying the Christmas-themed event, Niantic already revealed what’s coming next. As is tradition in the mobile game, trainers will get the chance to start the New Year with a special event that’ll feature costumed debuts, Raids, special bonuses, and much more.

So, if you want to know more about the Pokemon Go New Year’s 2024 event, we’ve got you covered.

Pokemon Go New Year’s 2024 event dates

The Pokemon Go New Year’s 2024 event will run from Monday, January 1, 2024, at 10 AM (local time) to Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at 8 PM (local time).

Players are currently celebrating the Winter Holiday 2023 event that’s divided into two parts and runs until December 31.

The New Year’s 2024 event will add new Avatar items to the shop.

Pokemon Go New Year’s 2024 wild encounters

Jigglypuff wearing a ribbon will debut during the Pokemon Go New Year’s 2024 event, and players will be able to evolve it to get Wigglytuff wearing a ribbon by spending 50 Candy. Additionally, these Pokemon will appear more frequently in the wild during the event:

  • Hoothoot wearing a New Year’s outfit
  • Darumaka
  • Bronzor

All these Pokemon, including the debuting costumed Jigglypuff and Wigglytuff, can be encountered as shiny in Pokemon Go.

Pokemon Go New Year’s 2024 Egg pool

The following Pokemon will hatch from 7 km Eggs if they’re incubated during the New Year’s 2024 event:

  • Pichu wearing a party hat
  • Cleffa
  • Igglybuff
  • Togepi
  • Tyrogue
  • Smoochum
  • Elekid
  • Magby
  • Azurill
  • Wynaut

All listed Pokemon can be shiny in Pokemon Go, so keep that in mind.

Pokemon Go New Year’s 2024 event Raids

The following Pokemon will headline Pokemon Go Raids during the New Year’s 2024 event:

1-Star Raids

  • Bulbasaur wearing a party hat
  • Charmander wearing a party hat
  • Squirtle wearing a party hat
  • Hoothoot wearing a New Year’s outfit
  • Wurmple wearing a party hat

3-Star Raids

  • Raticate wearing a party hat
  • Nidorino wearing a party hat
  • Gengar wearing a party hat
  • Wobbuffet wearing a party hat

Mega Raids

5-Star Raids

  • Buzzwole (Americas)
  • Xurkitree (Asia-Pacific)
  • Pheromosa (Europe)

While Mega Ampharos and all Pokemon headlining 1- and 3-Star Raids can be shiny, those in 5-Star Raids haven’t yet debuted their shiny forms in Pokemon Go.

Mega Ampharos will headline Raids during the New Year’s 2024 event.

Pokemon Go New Year’s 2024 Field & Timed Research

Pokemon Go players will be able to tackle different Timed and Field Research tasks during the New Year’s 2024 event.

Trainers who spin PokeStops during the event will get event-themed Field Research tasks. Completing them will reward players with encounters with Darukama and Bronzor.

On the other hand, Pokemon Go players can buy a ticket for the event-themed Timed Research for US$1.00 (or the equivalent pricing tier in your local currency). Completing these Research tasks will grant trainers Stardust, XP, and PokeCoins alongside encounters with Jigglypuff wearing a ribbon, Hoothoot wearing a New Year’s outfit, and Wurmple wearing a party hat.

Those who buy the Timed Research ticket will need to complete all tasks and claim all rewards before January 3, 2024, at 8 PM (local time).

Pokemon Go New Year’s 2024 event bonuses

The Pokemon Go New Year’s 2024 event will have the following bonuses:

  • 1/2 Egg Hatch distance when Eggs are placed into Incubators during the event.
  • 1/4 Hatch distance for the first three Eggs hatched during the event using the Pokemon Go Egg hatching widget.
