Niantic has announced a new Charged-Up research event that will take place in Pokemon GO on March 3. With the introduction of a new season, gamers have seen several changes to the augmented reality mobile game, including changes to the breakthrough research tasks in Pokemon GO and the introduction of new pocket monsters.
As Season of Wonders begins rolling out in Pokemon GO, players already have a mix of free and paid challenges to sink their teeth into. Niantic has unlocked the opportunity to catch a new Pokemon, Poipole, as part of the World of Wonders Special Research quest. In addition to these new tasks, trainers have a new challenge to look out for.
Pokemon GO Teases New and Returning Ultra Beasts for Season 14
Pokemon GO is teasing the franchise’s Ultra Beasts for Season 14, both featuring returning Ultra Beasts and brand-new additions to the game.
The Charged-Up research event in Pokemon GO will be held on March 3 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM local time. During this time, players will see an increased number of Electric-type Pokemon out in the wild. These monsters have been confirmed as Pikachu, Voltorb, Plusle, Minun, Emolga, and Pawmi. While the Pokemon listed will appear more frequently in the wild, players will be interested to note that the odds of encountering shiny versions are not boosted.
Pokemon GO Charge-Up Research Details
- March 3 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM local time
- Increased Wild Spawns for Pikachu, Voltorb, Plusle, Minun, Emolga, and Pawmi
- Increased Field Research Encounters for Chinchou, Electrike, Blitzle, Joltik, and Helioptile
- $1 Ticket available in the Pokemon GO shop
Niantic also confirmed that special Field Research tasks will also be available when trainers spin Photo Discs at PokeStops. Players who complete the event-specific research tasks will have a chance to catch one of the following monsters: Chinchou, Electrike, Blitzle, Joltik, and Helioptile. Unlike the creatures encountered in the wild, these Pokemon will have a boosted chance to be shiny. This will certainly be good news for gamers looking to build their shiny Pokedex, as the alternate-colored monsters can be quite elusive to most players, although some Pokemon GO players can be quite lucky when it comes to shiny Pokemon.
Players will be able to take part in the event at no extra cost, but Niantic is also offering a $1 ticket that will unlock a timed research path. Along with the additional research, the ticket will boost the shiny odds of Pokemon found in the wild. It is worth remembering that this ticket is only valid during the Pokemon GO Charged-Up event. If players are unable to complete the tasks, they will be forfeit.
With the addition of the Charge-Up event, there are already a lot of events for players to enjoy in Pokemon GO. The next one-day event will be the monthly Pokemon GO Community Day, which will take place on March 16 and will feature the Pokemon Litten. This will be the first time that trainers will be able to catch large numbers of the Alolan Fire-type Pokemon in its shiny form.
