PlayStation Plus Commemorates a Year of Enhanced Mediocrity with New Game Additions

Celebrate Good Times, Come On!

In an exciting announcement, Sony has revealed the latest additions to the Extra/Premium tiers of PlayStation Plus for the month of June. Prepare yourself for some incredible game titles!

Now, if you were hoping for a major upgrade to the classic games available in Sony’s digital catalog, I regret to inform you that this month’s offerings may be a tad disappointing. The two PS1 titles on offer are “Worms” and “Herc’s Adventures,” accompanied by the PSP game “Killzone: Liberation.” While these selections may not blow your mind, they certainly have their charm. In fact, “Herc’s Adventures” could even be considered a hidden gem if you take a generous view.

Here’s a list of the headline games, which Sony believes nobody cares about:

Admittedly, these games may not set the gaming world on fire, but they’re still games worth exploring. Sony has chosen to give limited attention to other PlayStation Plus Extra/Premium titles, such as “MX Vs ATV Legends,” “Paw Patrol Mighty Pups: Save Adventure Bay,” “My Friend Peppa Pig,” and the somewhat disappointing 2014 release of “Thief,” which failed to live up to the standards set by its predecessors.

Unleash the Party Favors

When Sony introduced their PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium tiers, many hoped for a well-rounded offering that would truly provide value. Unfortunately, Sony has fallen short in that regard. Is it too much to ask for the PS1 classics available on PS3 to be ported over? It seems like my expectations for the PlayStation platforms have been gradually lowering over the past decade, and Sony continues to disappoint. It’s become somewhat expected of them.

As a way of celebrating this perplexing commitment to mediocrity, Sony is also providing some giveaways in the form of avatars and wallpapers. It’s a modest offering, so try not to get too carried away with excitement. You can find all the details on their blog.

In addition, Sony is testing out the streaming of PS5 games. The value of this feature may not be immediately apparent, but it could come in handy if your hard drive is already full. Sony promises to reveal more details in the future, including the official launch date.

These exciting titles will be available for PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium members starting from June 20, 2023. However, the classic PS1 and PSP games are exclusively reserved for Premium members.
