Plankton Revealed as Next Nick All-Stars Brawl 2 Character With a Full Breakdown by Smash Pro

Plankton, the devious character from SpongeBob Squarepants, has made a grand entrance as the newest fighter in Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2.

Joining the ranks of other new fighters like Squidward Tentacles and Jimmy Neutron, Plankton joins a fantastic lineup of characters returning from the original game released in 2021. This includes beloved characters like SpongeBob Squarepants, April O’Neil from the Ninja Turtles, and Aang from Avatar: The Last Airbender.

To introduce Plankton as a playable character, a thrilling trailer showcases Mr. Krabs’ nemesis powering a towering mech suit and unleashing a series of ketchup-based attacks, aided by his wife Karen, who is an intelligent computer, and lasers. The trailer captures Plankton’s essence as he delivers menacing threats and maneuvers his mech using his antennae. This exciting addition to the game further supports a previous leak that hinted at Plankton’s inclusion among the new combatants in the game.

Scheduled for release later this year, Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2 aims to address some of the shortcomings of its predecessor. These improvements include the addition of voice acting and deeper mechanics, bringing it closer to the level of other popular platform fighters such as Super Smash Bros., Rivals of Aether, and Multiversus.

During EVO’s Industry Showcase, publisher Game Mill Entertainment and developers Ludosity and Fairplay Labs collaborated with Juan “Hungrybox” DeBiedma to provide insights into the new mechanics being introduced in the upcoming game. The breakdown revealed innovative features, including enhancements to All-Star Brawl’s shielding and dodging mechanics, as well as the introduction of the Slime meter.

Pay tribute to Nickelodeon’s famous green goo, the Slime meter allows characters to accumulate slime by attacking opponents or sustaining damage. This slime can then be utilized to enhance various moves, such as extending dodges, escaping combos, strengthening special attacks, or executing a powerful super move.

While an exact release date has yet to be announced, fans can expect to receive more information about the game in the upcoming weeks as it is scheduled for launch later this year.
