Payday 3 Promises Superior Refinement Compared to Payday 2

Payday 3 is on the horizon, and Starbreeze has done an excellent job of building up our anticipation for this upcoming FPS game. With a fresh setting and innovative gameplay mechanics, Payday 3 is poised to be one of the most highly anticipated releases of the year. While we’ve only seen one trailer so far, the developer recently sat down for an interview to give us a closer look at what we can expect from the game.

As the interview with Starbreeze’s lead producer Andreas Hall-Penninger and head of community Almir Listo reveals, Payday 3 brings significant changes to differentiate it from its predecessors. Listo describes the new game as “the evolution of the Payday franchise,” highlighting improvements in stealth mechanics and the behavior of SWAT units. Thanks to enhanced AI, the gameplay experience promises to be smoother than ever before.

According to Listo, the SWAT teams now prioritize the safety of civilians, refraining from resorting to grenades when innocent bystanders are present. Even the behavior of civilians themselves has been upgraded to appear more human-like. Additionally, players will have access to a wide range of 100 different skills to customize their characters and play the game in various ways.

Payday 3 aims to make the transition for new players seamless. Hall-Penninger reveals that the game will launch with four different tutorials catering to different playstyles, including combat, mask-off stealth, mask-on stealth, and crowd control. Addressing concerns about the game being too overwhelming for newcomers, Listo assures players that while Payday 3 is not a horde shooter like its predecessor, it has been refined to offer a more polished experience.

One notable change in Payday 3 is the reduced number of law enforcement units, but they are deadlier, more serious, and smarter. They also take longer to neutralize players. Listo attributes these improvements to Starbreeze’s utilization of new technology, which has opened up numerous possibilities for the game’s development. When asked about feedback from Payday 2, Hall-Penninger mentions that the community’s desire is to maintain the game’s integrity, expanding the in-game universe rather than collaborating with characters from other games.

At launch, Payday 3 will feature eight intricate heists, slightly fewer than Payday 2’s initial roster of 12 heists. However, Listo clarifies that the previous heists were smaller in scale. Further post-launch content plans will be revealed closer to the game’s release date in September. The producer hints at the addition of more heists, characters, weapons, and even new game modes, leaving players speculating about the possibilities. In closing, Listo refers to Payday 3 as the trilogy’s “Godfather moment,” emphasizing that it marks the beginning rather than the end for Starbreeze.

If you’re eagerly awaiting the game’s launch, ensure that your PC meets the full Payday 3 system requirements. Alternatively, you can explore other thrilling crime games to satisfy your bank-robbing fantasies or immerse yourself in the world of detective games for a change of pace and play on the side of the law.
