Our commercial revenue is largely influenced by our partners, either directly or in collaboration, accounting for more than 95%: Microsoft

As the Executive Director of Global Partner Solutions (GPS) at Microsoft India, Venkat Krishnan leads the company’s business strategy for the partner ecosystem in the country. Under his guidance, the GPS team manages initiatives and programs that enable partners to build IP, services, and businesses to deliver solutions for digital transformation. Krishnan has spent seven years at Microsoft in multiple roles, managing the partner ecosystem and the commercial business. With close to three decades of professional experience, he has previously worked with Oracle India, Sun Microsystems, Comsat Max, Motorola and Tata Telecom.

In an exclusive interview with Times of India Tech-Gadgets Now, Krishnan shed light on Microsoft’s Global Partner program. As Krishnan outlines, Microsoft has always aimed to help partners build capabilities to deliver technology solutions, transforming businesses and making a positive impact on people and the economy. The company’s partner ecosystem directly or indirectly influences over 95% of its commercial revenue.

Krishnan explains that Microsoft recruits partners for its Global Partner Solutions Program using predetermined criteria such as levels of proven expertise, specializations aligned to Microsoft’s solution areas, and levels of investment in Microsoft relationships. Partners joining this program receive end-to-end assistance from Microsoft with benefits including access to a global network, insights, tools, training, resources, co-innovating opportunities, and tailored solutions, among others. With strong co-sell opportunities and an expected revenue of between $7 to $10 for every $1 Microsoft makes, Krishnan reassures that every partner has a chance to thrive and grow with Microsoft.

Microsoft has revamped its Microsoft Cloud Partner Program to reflect its increased investments and partner commitment, says Krishnan. With 28 specializations on offer and a focus on solution areas like Azure, Modern Work, and Security and Business Applications, Microsoft provides guidelines, resources, and training for effective collaborations. Krishnan further elaborates on Microsoft’s commitment to empowering partners in three key areas, namely deepening partner technical capabilities, streamlining engagement with partners, and strengthening their digital capabilities. Through thoughtful, customer-first, partner-led initiatives, and programs, along with increased investment, Microsoft continues to build on the program’s success.

Krishnan highlights how the pandemic fast-tracked digital transformation worldwide, and Microsoft’s focus on empowering its customers through the transformational journey created numerous opportunities for the partners. Microsoft supports the partners with guidelines, resources, and tailored solutions in driving hybrid work, end-to-end security, charting IT roadmaps for organizations, or ensuring business continuity, among others.

Krishnan’s insights shed light on Microsoft’s Global Partner Solutions Program and the revolutionary impact it has had in the technology ecosystem. With continued investment, support, and initiatives, the program’s future looks bright, providing tailored solutions to businesses worldwide.
