OnePlus Watch 2 sees substantial update with two new apps

The OnePlus Watch 2 has proven to be a solid competitor in the Wear OS market, and even at only a few months old, it’s seeing a pretty big update that brings some nice quality-of-life features, a barometer function, and a relax app.

Rolling in under the version name OPWWE231_11_A.94, an update to the OnePlus Watch 2 is appearing in several regions, including the US, India, and some parts of Europe (via Android Authority). It looks to carry a decent slew of features over to the watch that adds functionality rather than completely changing what OnePlus is going for.

The biggest additions are two separate apps. The first app is a new Barometer program. Barometers read the environmental pressure and will read out the pressure reading and estimated elevation. It’s handy to have in watches that you’ll likely use for backpacking or general travel.

The other addition is a new Relax app. It looks to work similarly to other watches like the Pixel Watch series, offering breathing cues over a small period to regulate stress. It’s useful to have in the app drawer, especially if you use the watch for workouts or health conditioning.

Beyond those two apps, OnePlus has added a few key improvements to the way the watch functions. For instance, Tap to Wake can be disabled to enhance battery life. Additionally, music can now be accessed during a workout without exiting the app. OnePlus has also added a battery tile to the home screen that can be easily accessed on the OnePlus Watch 2.

Here’s the full changelog:

  • Optimizes data display during workouts.
  • Adds support for accessing Music Controller by swiping left during a workout.
  • Adds Relax and Barometer apps.
  • Adds new features in the Phone app in Power Saver mode, including displaying contacts, favoriting contacts, and displaying call logs.
  • Adds support for turning off “Tap to wake.”
  • Enhances the experience of removing a watch face.
  • Optimizes some workout and health algorithms.
  • Fixes other known issues.
