BGMI, the popular battle royale mobile game in India, recently returned after a year-long ban. The game has now become the centerpiece of a new esports tournament hosted by Skyesports, with a prize pool of Rs. 25 lakh. The Skyesports Champions Series tournament will run from June 9 to June 18 and will be streamed on Skyesports’ YouTube channel. Following the ban, competitive BGMI tournaments had been halted in India. However, Skyesports CEO Shiva Nandy had previously assured fans that the ban was temporary. The relaunched version of BGMI features daily time limits to address gaming addiction, while the latest update brings a new tropical island resort map and updates to classic maps. The Indian government has reportedly allowed the game to return to India on a three-month trial basis. Krafton, the game’s developer, is grateful to the Indian authorities and the gaming community for their support. BGMI is now available for download on both iOS and Android platforms via the App Store and Google Play Store, respectively. Users will be able to log in phases within 48 hours.
