8 Leave No Trace
Leave No Trace is Throné The Thief’s Latent Power, which allows her to have two consecutive turns. This is ideal for inflicting debuffs such as Armor Corrosive and Shackle Foe, and then using a follow-up attack on her second turn.
If you have identified your enemies’ weaknesses and Throné is equipped with a weapon or skill that breaks the enemies’ Shields, acting for two consecutive turns will surely let you fully Break an enemy which allows you to eliminate them sooner. The only downside of this Latent Power is that Throné has one of the lowest Physical Defense stat, so tanking hits to help her fill up her Latent Gauge isn’t the optimal way to unlock Leave No Trace.
7 Animal Instincts
Ochette The Hunter’s Latent Power allows her to use three devastating skills, namely Beastly Claws, Beastly Howl, and Beastly Fangs. The skills unlocked by Animal Instincts mainly deal with physical attacks, which means these are best used against enemies who are vulnerable to these types of attacks.
Her Beastly Howl will lower your enemies’ both Elemental Defense and Physical Defense while breaking a single Shield Point of all of your foes. Beastly Claws and Beastly Fangs both deal physical damage, with the former dealing damage to all enemies and the latter dealing massive physical damage to a single foe. Just like Throné, Ochette has the lowest base Physical Defense so equipping them with a tanky secondary job will give you more survivability, therefore allowing you to use their Latent Powers sooner.
6 Shadow’s Hold
If you played through Hikari The Warrior’s story, you’ll know that he has the accursed blood of Ku which allows him to use his Latent Power Shadow’s Hold. Strikingly similar to Ochette’s Animal Instincts, this Latent Power also lets you use three more skills: Tenrentsuzan, Hienka, and Sougetsusen.
While Hikari and Ochette may have similar Latent Powers, Hikari’s Latent Powers focus on dealing colossal damage to enemies, as he lacks a debuff skill. His Hienka skill allows him to attack an enemy twice while giving him another chance to act again at the end of the current turn. Hikari’s Latent Powers fully utilize his high base physical damage, and you can always expect to deal huge damage each time Hikari has his Latent Powers up and active.
5 Hoot And Holler
As a Merchant, Partitio has skills that share his BP or SP with an ally. His Hoot And Holler Latent Power gives him a full BP meter. Boost Points, or BP, can be consumed by the user to boost their spells and attacks.
Boosted spells deal bigger damage, and boosted attacks allow you to attack more frequently during your turn. Partitio’s Hoot and Holler is amazingly good as it will always allow him to deal maximum damage during his turn. If you have enough silver leaves for the Hired Help skill, fully boosting the attacks from this skill deals so much damage that you can end the fight quickly.
4 Judgment
Temenos The Cleric’s Latent Power is called Judgment, and for a pretty good reason. Once he activates his Latent Power, he will always Break his enemy’s Shield regardless of his attack element or type. This Latent Power is insanely good when combined with a full BP gauge, allowing you to remove a minimum of 4 Shield Points to the enemy depending on which job skills you’ll use.
Judgment also works well with Temenos’ nighttime Path Action, Coerce. Coerce only needs you to Break the enemy, so using Judgment in a difficult NPC will allow for an easier Coerce.
3 All Together Now
Agnea’s Dancer Latent Skill will disperse any single target spell to all of your enemies or allies. This Latent Power, All Together Now, is best coupled with secondary jobs with great buffs such as the Conjurer’s Dance of Immunity. Agnea’s Latent Power also compliments the single target buffs that she has as a Dancer.
Depending on your chosen secondary job, All Together Now also works with the best offensive spells. Agnea’s secondary job such as the Hunter or Thief fully benefits from All Together Now, making her more versatile support when it comes to her spells.
2 Concentrate Spells
Very similar to All Together Now, Osvald’s Latent Power Concentrate Spells does the opposite: it focuses all his multi-target spells into a single target and massively intensifies the damage. If you want to quickly eliminate an enemy, it’s best to burst them with your strongest spells and Osvald’s Latent Power does just that.
As a Scholar, Osvald’s set of skills is usually focused on all the enemies on the battlefield, which may sometimes seem counter-intuitive especially when multiple enemies have different weaknesses. To fully take advantage of Concentrate Spells, you can reserve this Latent Power for huge fights such as mini-bosses or bosses. Once you know the boss’ elemental weakness and have broken its Shield, dealing massive elemental damage using Concentrate Spells will always make your battle easier.
1 Every Last Drop
Possibly one of the most overpowered skills in the game, Castti’s Concoct can either buff your party or deal damage to enemies. It is possibly the only skill in the game which lets you deal multiple elemental attack instances, and also the best skill in the whole game when it comes to restoring everyone’s BP as long as you know which materials to use with Concoct.
Already an amazing skill, Every Last Drop brings Concoct to a whole new level as it lets Castti use Concoct without even using a single material. With this, you can restore your whole party’s BP to the max, deal more damage, or enhance buffs without wasting your precious materials. Some materials are immensely powerful and rare, so Every Last Drop makes it worth the wait. With Castti’s strong set of spells, buffs, and skills, her Latent Power even makes her greatly valuable in any party setup.
