Nothing Phone (2a) camera specifications and official wallpapers detailed after hands-on leak

Kamila Wojciechowska and SmartPrix have collaborated to reveal new details about the Phone (2a), Nothing’s rumoured return to mid-range smartphones. According to the pair, Nothing is preparing to offer the Phone (2a) in four variants for Europe (PacmanEEA), India (PacmanIND) and Japan (PacmanJPN), as well as a ‘global’ edition (Pacman) for the rest of the world.

Currently, it is unclear how Nothing will distinguish these variants from each other, if at all. However, SmartPrix claims that Wojciechowska has come across full Phone (2a) camera specifications. On the one hand, the Phone (2a) is said to utilise the Samsung ISOCELL S5KJN1 as its ultra-wide-angle camera, a 50 MP and 1/2.76-inch sensor that has 0.64 µm-wide pixels. For reference, Nothing uses the ISOCELL S5KJN1 for the same purposes in the Phone (1) and Phone (2).

Additionally, the Phone (2a) is rumoured to rely upon the Sony IMX615 for its front-facing camera, another sensor shared with the Phone (2). Thus, the Phone (2a) should have a better front-facing camera than the Phone (1), which uses the inferior Sony IMX471. On the other hand, the Phone (2a) is also tipped to host the ISOCELL GN9, a sensor that neither the Phone (1) nor Phone (2) use.

Instead, the ISOCELL S5KGN9 remains a Motorola Moto G84 exclusive for now. For context, ISOCELL S5KGN9 outputs at 50 MP with a 1/1.5-inch optical format and 1.0 µm-wide pixels. Based on these specifications, the ISOCELL S5KGN9 should match the IMX766 and IMX890 in the Phone (1) and Phone (2), respectively, in most areas. Incidentally, Wojciechowska and SmartPrix have shared official Phone (2a) wallpapers too, which we have embedded below. Currently, the Phone (2a) is rumoured to arrive in late February during MWC 2024 with a MediaTek Dimensity 7200 chipset and a 6.7-inch OLED display, which an earlier hands-on leak disclosed.
