New Release Date Revealed for Season 5 of ‘The Dragon Prince’

Netflix’s highly anticipated original series, “The Dragon Prince,” is making a grand return for its fifth season this month. In an exciting announcement during the San Diego Comic-Con panel, Netflix surprised fans by revealing that the new season has premiered earlier than expected. Instead of waiting until July 27, viewers can now stream Season 5 as of today, July 22.

“The Dragon Prince” first captured audiences’ attention in 2018, introducing us to the young princes, Ezran (Sasha Rojen) and Callum (Jack De Sena). The story begins when an elven assassin named Rayla (Paula Burrows) infiltrates the castle and forms an unlikely friendship with the princes. Together, they are determined to protect the dragon prince’s egg and bring harmony between the magical Xadia and the human kingdoms. This goal drives the narrative throughout the entire series, while Viren (Jason Simpson) remains fixated on claiming the throne.

Season 4 marked a significant shift in the storyline, as it jumped two years ahead. With Viren’s army defeated, allies across the land were finally able to enjoy some semblance of peace. However, trouble quickly resurfaces when Claudia (Racquel Belmont) resurrects Viren and introduces the intriguing “Mystery of Aaravos” plotline. As the season concludes, Claudia sets her sights on finding Aaravos (Erik Dellums), but in the process, forgets the staff that Viren later acquires, seemingly becoming possessed. Season 5 will delve into Terry and Claudia’s struggle to save Viren’s life, while Callum, Ezran, Rayla, and Soren (Jesse Inocalla) rely on their allies to defend the lands from the impending return of the Startouch Elves.

Behind the magic of “The Dragon Prince” are its talented creators and writers, Justin Richmond and Aaron Ehasz. Ehasz, known for his work on beloved series like “Futurama” and “Avatar: The Last Airbender,” brings his expertise to the show. The series is primarily directed by Villads Spangsberg, with George Samilksi, Lih Liau, and Giancarlo Volpe also taking the helm. Ehasz, Richmond, Volpe, and Spangsberg serve as executive producers alongside Devon Giehl, Iain Hendry, and Neil Mukhopadhy. The show boasts an impressive voice cast, including Adrian Petriw, Omari Newton, and Rena Anakwe. As “The Dragon Prince” enters its fifth season, it joins the ranks of Netflix’s longer-running original series.

Fans can catch the highly anticipated Season 5 of “The Dragon Prince” on Netflix, starting from July 22. Watch the thrilling trailer below:
