New Pixel Ad Featuring Megan Rapinoe Hints at Sport Band Addition for Google Pixel Watch

During the ‘Made By Google’ event in October last year, Google introduced its highly anticipated Pixel Watch. The company’s first smartwatch developed in-house was made available in Chalk, Charcoal, Hazel, and Obsidian band options. Now, it seems that a new band option will be added to the lineup. In Google’s latest Fixed on Pixel ad featuring soccer star Megan Rapinoe, the sporty Pixel Watch band in the Coral shade is hinted at. The ad also showcases the Pixel 7 Pro smartphone and Pixel Buds Pro truly wireless stereo (TWS) earbuds.

The new Google Fixed on Pixel ad, starring Women’s Soccer star Megan Rapinoe, provides a glimpse of the upcoming Pixel Watch band in coral. In the video, Megan Rapinoe is seen using the Pixel 7 Pro paired with a Pixel Watch that has a coral watch band displaying “Fitbit Active Zone Minutes”. She also wears the Pixel Buds Pro TWS earbuds. According to the video, “the band will not be available for purchase until Fall 2023.”

Google was initially rumored to release seven bands for the Pixel Watch, but it ultimately debuted with four options: Chalk Active band, Charcoal Active band, Hazel Active band, and Obsidian Active band.

To recap, Google unveiled the Pixel Watch at I/O 2022 in May, and it was officially launched in October alongside the Google Pixel 7 series during the ‘Made By Google’ event.

The Google Pixel Watch is priced at $349.99 for the Bluetooth and Wi-Fi-only model, while the LTE model with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi is priced at $399.99.

Running on WearOS 3.5, the Google Pixel Watch features a circular 1.2-inch AMOLED touch display with always-on mode support. It is powered by the Exynos 9110 SoC, coupled with a Cortex M33 coprocessor and 2GB of RAM. The wearable includes a heart rate sensor and an ECG tracker. Built with stainless steel, it is integrated with Fitbit and supports Google Assistant, Google Maps, and Google Wallet.

Google I/O 2023 demonstrated the search giant’s focus on AI, along with the launch of its first foldable phone and Pixel-branded tablet. Going forward, the company plans to enhance its apps, services, and Android operating system with AI technology.
