New McFarlane Figures Depict the Villains of Christopher Nolan’s ‘Dark Knight’

McFarlane Toys made a significant impact in the DC fan community earlier this year when they released a wave of figures based on the beloved Dark Knight trilogy. And now, in anticipation of San Diego Comic Con, they have announced three new Gold Label SDCC figures featuring two iconic villains from the franchise.

Firstly, the new seven-inch Gold Label figures include two different versions of the Joker, portrayed brilliantly by Heath Ledger. One figure depicts the Clown Prince of Crime in his heist outfit from the iconic opening scene of The Dark Knight. The other figure showcases the Joker as he appears in Batman’s sonar vision, with a striking translucent blue plastic representing the character’s unique look. Additionally, the bank heist Joker figure comes with an alternate head sculpt of his clown mask, paying homage to the Adam West Batman series.

The final figure in this SDCC wave is Bane, played by Tom Hardy in The Dark Knight Rises. Bane originally served as the build-a-figure for the previous wave of Dark Knight figures. However, this new Gold Label figure features Bane in his signature winter coat, making it a must-have for collectors.

The Dark Knight trilogy is revered for its unforgettable villains, which have contributed to its lasting impact in popular culture. Heath Ledger’s portrayal of the Joker is often hailed as one of the greatest performances of all time. With memorable lines, Christopher Nolan’s realistic approach, and Ledger’s unique interpretation, his version of the Joker has become the definitive portrayal of the character. It’s no surprise that Ledger posthumously won an Oscar for his portrayal. The Dark Knight remains a benchmark for the superhero genre even after 15 years, and The Joker’s presence is a significant factor in its success.

Similarly, Tom Hardy’s Bane made a lasting impression as the main villain in The Dark Knight Rises. While his voice may have been the subject of parody, Bane’s menacing appearance and commanding presence made him a worthy adversary. Both the Joker and Bane stand as two of the greatest villains of the 21st century, and these new McFarlane figures are a testament to their enduring popularity.

The Dark Knight‘s Memorable Villains

Aside from the immersive storytelling and exceptional performances, the Dark Knight trilogy owes much of its success to its memorable villains. Led by Heath Ledger’s iconic Joker, the villains in these films have captivated audiences with their complexity and impact. Christopher Nolan’s realistic approach and the unique interpretations by Ledger and Tom Hardy as Bane have solidified their place in cinematic history.

When is SDCC?
