New Elden Ring Statistics Unveil Over 9 Billion Player Deaths, Malenia’s Efforts, and More

Elden Ring recently celebrated its one-year milestone, and to commemorate the occasion, publisher Bandai Namco has unveiled an informative infographic that provides valuable insights into player deaths and gameplay statistics since the game’s launch. According to the data presented in the chart, players have collectively succumbed to death over 9 billion times. A staggering 69 percent of these deaths were attributed to NPC/enemy damage, while 15 percent were a result of status effects. Interestingly, 2 percent of deaths were caused by other players engaging in online PvP battles. Additionally, it was revealed that 12 percent of total deaths occurred due to the game’s challenging platforming mechanics, resulting in players plunging to their demise.

One of the standout features of Elden Ring was the notoriously difficult boss, Empyrean Malenia, Blade of Miquella. The infographic discloses that players attempted to vanquish this formidable adversary a staggering 329 million times. This showcases the determination and commitment of players in their quest for victory.

Bandai Namco further reveals that an impressive number of 5.9 billion boss battles have been initiated by Elden Ring players since its launch. The second most challenging boss battle, Margit the Fell Omen, garnered 281 million attempts. Initially posing a formidable challenge for under-leveled players, Margit the Fell Omen became a choke point until players realized the importance of exploring the game’s world and upgrading their characters. The Limgrave Tree Sentinel, guarding the Church of Elleh, secured the third spot with 277 million attempts. Finally, the fourth position was claimed by the final boss, Radagon of the Golden Order, with a total of 148 million attempted battles. Defeating Radagon is the gateway to reaching the second phase, the Elden Beast. It is worth noting that Starscourge Radahn obtained the fifth position with 139 million attempts, which is understandable considering the advantages of summoning NPCs for aid in Radahn’s arena in Caelid.

The infographic also sheds light on Elden Ring’s multiplayer component. It reveals that co-op summons for assistance in boss battles accounted for a significant majority of summons, occupying 88 percent of the pie chart. On the other hand, invasions, where players attempted to disrupt another player’s playthrough, comprised a mere 12 percent of all summons. These statistics demonstrate the limited presence of PvP features in the vast realm of Elden Ring.

In terms of gameplay mechanics, the gravitational Rock Sling spell emerged as the most utilized ability in the game. It was followed closely by Crystal Torrent, which inflicts piercing damage by launching multiple shards of crystal. The Glinstone Pebble claimed the third position, trailed closely by the GreatBlade Phalanx. Rotten Breath, allowing the caster to conjure a plume of decaying gas, rounded off the top five.

When examining the most acquired Incantations, the self-healing Blessing of the Erdtree took the lead. The Bestial Sling, acquired from Gurranq, Beast Clergyman, upon obtaining the second Deathroot, ranked as the second most sought-after Incantation. The buffing incantation Golden Vow secured the third spot, while The Flame of Frenzy, enabling players to induce madness in enemies through fiery manifestations, claimed the fourth position. Lastly, Bestial Vitality occupied the fifth position.

In a surprising and unexpected announcement, FromSoftware revealed the first major expansion for Elden Ring, Shadow of the Erdtree. This expansion is currently under development. Alongside the announcement, a teaser photo was released, featuring a mysterious blonde figure, possibly Miquella, riding atop the loyal steed, Torrent. In the distant background, two intertwined trees can be observed, emitting a golden sap.

Elden Ring is available on multiple platforms, including PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X, providing players with various options to embark on this epic adventure.
