Naruto: 10 Best Jinchuuriki, Ranked

Tailed Beasts are somewhat of a rarity in the Boruto series, but they were all the rage back when Shippudden was the latest Naruto series. Everything about them, from their size to their abilities, screamed power, and everyone wanted to have a piece of the piece to themselves.

After Hashirama tamed the nine Tailed Beasts, he distributed them among various powerful hidden villages to keep the peace, a gesture that was ultimately useless. Over time, these powerful weapons of mass destruction have seen different containers, some better than others.

10
Bunpuku

The first Jinchuuriki of Shukaka, Bunpuku, was made a prisoner before he could even properly learn to walk. He was isolated from the village and grew up with virtually no education or ninja training. As far as power goes, he had basically none. Other than the big ball of chakra inside that could cause destruction on a mass scale, that is.

However, Bunpuku excelled in an area where many of his fellows failed — he was a good Jinchuurki. He wasn’t powerful or grand, but he was a good container for Shukaku. He made friends with the one-tailed beast as a child and continued the relationship till his death when the Ichibi was extracted from him.

Yagura

Yagura

Although Yagura doesn’t get much screen time in the anime, we can use the context clues provided throughout the show to rank him relatively high compared to other Jinchuuriki.

Many are quick to dismiss him since he was the Jinchuuriki of the Sanbi, the third-weakest Tailed Beast. However, an important detail that was revealed in the anime was that Tobi, the puppet master behind the Akatsuki, was the one who went to the Mizukage and brought him under his control. This shows that other members of the organization might not have been strong enough to do such a task, leaving it up to the most powerful one of them all.

8
Kushina

Kushina Uzumaki

Now, Kushina was a wonderful woman. She was a loyal kunoichi to Konoha, a loving wife to Minato, and an extremely energetic ball of sunshine who brought energy to the room just by being there. But there’s no denying that she wasn’t exactly the best Jinchuuriki.

That’s not to say that she was a bad Jinchuurki. In fact, far from it. She used her clan’s signature technique, the Uzumaki chains, to keep the Ninetails under control. However, she never tried to talk to the beast or utilize its powers, gaining only the passive increased chakra capacity that any Jinchuuriki gets.

7
Yugito

Yugito Nii, in her reincarnated form

Although she’s the Jinchuuriki of the Niibi, the second-weakest chakra beast, Yugito is one of the few people in the show who has some control over her Tailed Beast. She gets personal training from the Eight-Tails Jinchuuriki, Killer B, making her a force to be reckoned with.

Despite her powers, Yugito does get taken out by Hidan and Kakuzu working together. If she had full access to Matatabi, the fight might have gone differently. With her extended claws and blue fire techniques, she put up a decent fight.

6
Mito

Mito Uzumaki Young and Old

The wife of the first Hokage, Mito Uzumaki, was the first Jinchuuriki of the Ninetails. In fact, she was such a powerful seal master that she made the sealing technique that bound the Tailed Beast herself. Not much is known about her combat abilities, but she is considered a strong Kunoichi by most.

Due to the boons of her clan, Mito is able to live a long life up till the Third Hokage’s reign. While she doesn’t gain access to all of Kurama’s powers during this time, she does unlock his ability to detect negative emotions.

5
Utakata

Utakata

One of the stronger Jinchuuriki around, Utakata had to be dispatched directly by Pain, the leader of the Akatsuki. He put up a great fight, destroying a few Paths and even making the main path, Deva, take a few steps back.

Utakata left his village during the Bloody Mist era, becoming a wandering shinobi. He used the water nature transformation to use soap bubbles for combat and demonstrated control over the Jinchuuriki cloak, all the way up to six tails. He can also manifest version two of the Bijuu cloak, but he doesn’t show much control when in that form.

4
Killer B

Killer B Normal and Beast Cloak Form

The first person in the anime who had a good relationship with a Tailed Beast, Killer B, is a trailblazer. While B isn’t the only person to befriend a Bijuu at this point in the timeline, the other one being Bunpuku, he is the first one to master the use of Bijuu’s power.

In the anime, Killer B shows complete mastery over his Tailed Beasts powers. Not just Version 1 and 2 of the Bijuu cloak, he can also utilize the Tailed Beast Mode, in which he becomes a full-scale replica of Gyuuki. In this form, he can summon tornadoes and fire multiple Tailed Beast Balls, giving him the capability of leveling an entire village all on his own.

3
Madara

Madara Uchiha starting a fight against the shinobi army

The final Ten Tails Jinchuuriki, Madara Uchiha, is a beast of a man. Even without his Jinchuuriki form, he was able to hold back all five Kage with just his clones. He fought against the entire shinobi army and came out on top.

In his Jinchuuriki form, the only person who made him use his full power was Guy after he opened all eight gates and basically sacrificed his own life. Even then, Madara wasn’t defeated. Before Naruto or Sasuke could properly beat him, he was overtaken by Kaguya.

2
Naruto

Naruto the Seventh Hokage playing with his child, Boruto

The protagonist of the show, Naruto Uzumaki, had a rough start as a Jinchuuriki. A pariah in his own village and reviled by the masses due to his status, the young Uzumaki had great resentment towards the prisoner inside his belly. However, over time, he was able to overcome his demons and have a friendly relationship with Kurama.

After he gains the cooperation of the Ninetails, Naruto is able to access a special Tailed Beast mode called Kurama mode. Instead of manifesting the entirety of the Ninetails, he gets access to a new form of Chakra cloak. He can manifest parts of the Kyuubi, and even the full thing, as needed, but it’s not a requirement. He can also fire overpowered Tailed Beast Balls, transfer his chakra to others, and sense negative emotions from others.

1
Hagoromo

Hagoromo

The father of Chakra and the child of Kaguya, Hagoromo was the man who saved humanity in the Naruto Universe. He was the original Jinchuuriki of the Tentails and was able to control its powers fully.

He was skilled enough to seal away the body of the Tentails and split its chakra into nine different parts, leading to the creation of the Bijuu as we know them today. As the progenitor of the Tailed Beasts themselves, there’s no doubt that Hagoromo is one of the strongest characters in Naruto and the best Jinchuuriki in Naruto.
