Developer Fntastic has released a new gameplay trailer for The Day Before, its long-awaited zombie survival game that has faced its fair share of intrigue and controversy. Fntastic also announced a release date for the game on PC via Steam Early Access: December 7.
The Day Before is a post-apocalyptic open-world survival MMO where players will fight against the undead and other human players alike. As the trailer shows, The Day Before lets players create and customize a character, build out an arsenal of weapons, and even escape from the horrors of the post-apocalypse by creating their own customizable homestead. Take a look at the trailer below.
The Day Before has been in the works for the past half-decade. The studio said in a message to fans, “These past five years have been filled with sweat and blood. We’ve been through so much. But we want to thank you for standing by us. All of this is for you.”
The Day Before launches via Steam Early Access on December 7 for $39. Once the game reaches the “best version” possible, it will jump in price to $49. The game’s Steam page was removed earlier this year due to a reported trademark dispute, which Fntastic said with no evidence is now settled.
A “next-gen console version” of The Day Before is also in the works, but it doesn’t have a release date yet.
The Day Before has been delayed multiple times amid its shift to the Unreal Engine 5. Fnastic was also criticized for its use of unpaid “volunteer” workers in 2022.
