Modern Warfare 3 To Feature the Most Infamous Mission From the Original Trilogy

Anyone who has played the original Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 from 2009 knows the ‘No Russian’ mission. In fact, the mission was so infamous and controversial, that a vast majority of gamers knew how divisive the map was. Yesterday, Activision Blizzard revealed Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 gameplay trailer (which was more of a story trailer than gameplay trailer). The trailer once again featured a reference to the ‘No Russian’ mission.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 ‘No Russian’ mission

Those who completed Call of Duty Modern Warfare II from 2022, also know partly about the ‘No Russian’ mission. The game’s post-credit scene features a person getting their pistol ready before receiving a text from recipient ‘M’, who asks them if they were ready for the mission, which in all likelihood, is hijacking the plane. The ‘M’ here is Makarov, which is all but confirmed when ‘M’ replies with “No Russian”.

The same scene gets played at the end of Modern Warfare III trailer, followed by the hjiacker getting up, pointing their gun and shooting it before the screen goes black. There was also a Marakrov trailer released before this one, which had a reference to the ‘No Russian’ mission too. The trailer also had fans theorizing that Makarov is involved in the destruction of Verdansk which had a plane crash into the Verdansk stadium.

Now, the latest gameplay trailer confirms that Verdansk is indeed returning in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 as part of the campaign story. Captain Price, alongside his squad, entered the iconic prison from the Warzone map. The trailer also showed glimpses of the Verdansk Stadium but before it was all blown up.
