In a fireside chat with HP CEO Enrique Lores at the HP Amplify Partner Conference, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella highlighted Artificial Intelligence (AI) as the technology with the broadest potential impact, requiring a fundamental rethinking of the tech stack. Nadella, marking his 32nd year at Microsoft, emphasised the transformative nature of AI, stating that “the entire tech stack has to be rethought.”

Nadella said that in regards to computers and AI, the tech has the potential to reimagine personal computers and computers entirely, potentially reshaping how users interact with technology. He noted that Microsoft is approaching PCs through the lens of AI, viewing them as potential “Copilot PCs” designed to empower users and accelerate their productivity.

Nadella expressed optimism about the revolutionary potential of Generative AI (GenAI), which promises to put expertise “at our fingertips,” surpassing the current state of information accessibility. Nadella cited a 1993 speech given by Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates where he said that computers will bring information at our fingertips. “What AI will do is it will put expertise at our fingertips,” said the CEO of Microsoft.

However, Nadella cautioned against neglecting the responsible diffusion of technology. While acknowledging the undeniable benefits offered by advancements like GenAI, he stressed the importance of considering potential consequences.
