Mark Gurman: Apple Expected to Unveil Mac Devices Powered by M3 Chip by October

Apple made a major announcement at its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June 2023. The event showcased several new products, including a 15-inch MacBook Air model, Mac Studio, and Mac Pro. All of these devices are powered by Apple’s cutting-edge M2 chips. However, there was no mention of the highly anticipated M3 chips, which have been rumored to be in production by the Cupertino-based tech giant.

According to a recent report from analyst Mark Gurman, it seems that Apple is planning to debut the M3 iMac, M3 13-inch MacBook Air, and M3 MacBook Pro in October. While Apple is expected to launch a series of products at an event in September, including the iPhone 15 and Apple Watch Series 9, Gurman suggests that another event will take place in October to showcase the new Mac products featuring the M3 chips.

It’s important to note that the report does not provide a specific timeline for the October event, and Apple has not officially announced anything regarding the new M3 Mac products. Therefore, it’s advisable to approach this news with a degree of skepticism for the time being.

In addition to the M3 chips, there have been reports that Apple is working on a 14.1-inch iPad Pro model and plans to introduce the M3 Pro processor next year, which may be used in the rumored tablet.

Furthermore, TF Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has suggested that Apple will utilize the 2nd-generation TSMC 3nm process for the M3 and A17 Bionic chips. These powerful chips are expected to power the upcoming Mac computers in 2023. The report also mentions that the M3 Pro or M3 Max processors could enter production in the first half of 2024.

Apple also unveiled its first mixed reality headset, the Apple Vision Pro, at the WWDC 2023 conference, along with new Mac models and upcoming software updates.
