Man on Bengaluru Flight Demands ‘Fee’ For Exchanging Seats, Internet Says, ‘What an Idea, Sirji’

One of the most frustrating experiences during a flight is when someone requests a seat exchange, don’t you agree? Paying extra for a specific seat only to surrender it out of sheer empathy and request feels quite challenging. However, a recent incident sparked a brilliant idea when a man decided to demand a fee for such exchanges. Yes, in a move that garnered admiration across the internet, the man shared how he insisted on being compensated during a recent flight from Bengaluru.

Taking to ‘X’, Mahesh recounted, “On a flight out of BLR. Someone asked if I could move to a different seat so their family could sit together. I said sure and that I accept cash/GPay, and told her I paid xxx for that seat.” The response? Well, it wasn’t exactly what one might expect. “Wonder why she looked so pissed off. What did she expect me to do, jump up&out of my seat?” Mahesh pondered.

As expected, the post quickly went viral, drawing a flurry of reactions from fellow travellers. “Yes they act as if in a MELA [fair], by the time flight lands they would all get lost and can be united with a family song 20 years later,” chuckled one commenter. Another hailed Mahesh’s approach, advocating for a fee-based system to deter entitlement. “Need more people like you man. Those seats cost a lot. Entitlement also should cost the same,” they opined.

Meanwhile, the third one shared, “Good job. Seriously like how they expect just for their comfort someone else would suffer. I have also faced same in train. My luggage is their and still they’re convincing and when I just told NO. they said Bad words in their language, which I couldn’t understand.”

Of course, not everyone was on board with this new approach. “In normal situation, one would have given it out of courtesy. But this selling of seat has brought out worst of us,” lamented one dissenting voice. “I guess you could have just said no simply, your comment that you accept gpay could have been avoided,” criticised another.

Despite the mixed reactions, the post has captured the attention of around 300K viewers since being shared.
