Long-Awaited Release Date Announced for Adaptation of ‘Strange Planet’

After a two-year wait, Apple TV+ has finally announced the premiere date for the highly anticipated adaptation of Strange Planet. The series, based on the popular graphic novel, will make its debut on the streaming platform on August 9. Season 1 will consist of 10 episodes, with new episodes releasing every Wednesday until the season finale on September 27.

Strange Planet is an adaptation of the #1 New York Times bestselling graphic novel by Nathan W. Pyle. The series takes place in a fantastical world that bears similarities to our own and offers a humorous and insightful exploration of the peculiar traditions and rituals of humans, as observed by a group of blue beings.

Who Is in the Strange Planet Voice Cast?

The voice cast of Strange Planet features an impressive lineup of award nominees. Leading the way are Danny Pudi, known for his role in Community and his previous work on Apple TV+’s Mythic Quest; Lori Tan Chinn, recognized for her performances in projects like Akwafina Is Nora from Queens, Turning Red, and the upcoming film Joy Ride; Hannah Einbinder, whose breakout came with HBO’s Hacks; Tunde Adebimpe, whose credits include Lazor Wulf, She Dies Tomorrow, and Rachel Getting Married; and Demi Adejuyigbe, primarily known for his writing on shows like The Amber Ruffin Show and The Late Late Show with James Corden.

Strange Planet is co-created and executive produced by Nathan W. Pyle and Emmy Award winner Dan Harmon, known for his successful shows Rick and Morty and Community. Other executive producers include Corey Campodonico (Emmy Award winner for BoJack Horseman) for ShadowMachine, Amalia Levari (Emmy Award winner for Over the Garden Wall), Academy Award winner Alex Bulkley (Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio), Steve Levy (Rick and Morty, Community), Lauren Pomerantz (Saturday Night Live), and Taylor Alexy Pyle. The series is produced by Apple Studios and ShadowMachine.

Strange Planet joins an impressive lineup of shows on Apple TV+, including the beloved comedy Ted Lasso, The Morning Show, the adaptation of Isaac Asimov’s Foundation, the currently airing Platonic, and the recently concluded Season 1 of Silo.

Strange Planet will premiere on Wednesday, August 9 on Apple TV+.
