Linkable Headlines: Google starts rolling out linkable headlines feature in Docs

Google Introduces Linkable Headlines Feature in Google Docs

Google has recently announced the release of a new feature in Google Docs called Linkable Headlines. With this feature, users can create links to specific headings within their documents, making it more convenient to share and navigate lengthy documents. Additionally, the feature enhances collaboration by allowing users to refer to specific sections of the document during discussions with other collaborators.

How to Use the Linkable Headlines Feature in Google Docs

“To enhance document shareability, particularly for longer documents, we have added the ability to copy links to headings in Google Docs,” stated Google in a blog post. To use this feature, simply follow these steps: open a Google Doc on the web, add a heading (type some content and set it to “Heading 1”), right-click on the heading, click the “Copy heading link” button, and paste the copied link wherever you want.

Availability

The linkable headlines feature is currently being rolled out to select users and is expected to be available to all users in the coming weeks. The feature will be accessible to Google Workspace customers, including Essentials, Business Standard, Business Plus, Enterprise Starter, Enterprise Essentials, Enterprise Essentials Plus, Enterprise Standard, Enterprise Plus, Education Plus, the Teaching and Learning Upgrade, and Nonprofits customers.

Copying HTML Elements Now Available on iOS

In addition to the linkable headlines feature, Google has also announced the availability of copying HTML elements on iOS devices. This allows users to paste copied HTML elements into a document. Google has further introduced the capability to empty the entire trash folder of a shared drive in Google Drive. This improvement simplifies file management for users, eliminating the need to manually remove items from the trash folder. It’s important to note that files and folders in Trash are permanently deleted after 30 days.
