Garmin Lily 2 may be Garmin’s next watch, according to leaked information on the company’s own website.
It should not come as a surprise that the next iteration of Lily is about to drop. The original was launched about three years ago so is well due for an upgrade.
The company has many watches, but only one that is solely designed for women: the Garmin Lily. The first-generation device came in two iterations: the $250 Lily Classic and the $200 Lily Sport.
The Lily smartwatches, while differing in design and materials (metal for the Classic and fiber-reinforced plastic for the Sport), share the same sensor technology and features. They boast a 34.5-millimeter diameter watch face with a 1-inch TFT LCD panel displaying 16 levels of grayscale, set against a multicolored background. The watches are navigated via a touchscreen, feature an anodized aluminum bezel, and offer options for silicone or leather bands. They are also water-resistant up to 50 meters and protected by Gorilla Glass.
In terms of functionality, the Garmin Lily range includes standard features like an accelerometer, heart rate sensor, and SpO2 monitoring, but lacks built-in GPS, relying instead on a connected smartphone for precise location and activity tracking. Some of the other health and fitness tracking capabilities include stress and menstrual cycle tracking, and support for multiple sports modes. A notable feature is the emergency help function, which shares the wearer’s location with predefined contacts. However, the watches have a relatively short battery life of about five days and is lightweight at just 24 grams.
Garmin Lily 2 – first info
As first spotted by Fitness Tracker Test, we now have the first info on Lily. The device was mentioned on the Spanish version of the Garmin website.
Once again, we get the two same models – Sport and Classic. The first comes with a silicone band in Crema Oro / Coco and Lila options. The second comes with a nylon band in brown or gray. The other Classic Edition option comes with a leather band in beige/gold or black/blue.
Interestingly, there has been no mention of the device on the FCC or other regulatory sites. But that may not mean anything. Garmin has become better at revealing as little information as possible via regulatory bodies prior to launch. Go back 3 or 4 years, and lots of information could be gathered about upcoming devices from such sources.
As far as specs, there is only speculation. Built-in GPS seems like a strong possibility, along with improvements in battery life. Also, don’t be surprised if the second generation comes with an AMOLED display. This seems to be the direction Garmin is heading in, and it is slowly phasing out other options. Other features that could possibly make the cut include music storage. Also, expect fitness and health tracking improvements as things have progressed quite a bit since the original Lily’s debut.
Regarding the possible launch date, our money is on January. Either CES 2024 in Las Vegas or a few weeks after. Garmin always has something new to show around that time, and this looks like it may be it – possibly alongside the mysterious HRM-FIT. It would pretty much mark exactly three years since the original Lily was launched on January 26th, 2021.
