Kingdom Community Shifts Focus to Crafting In-Game Music

This game is going to have an enduring impact

Even though it has been over six years since the release of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, we are still finding reasons to write about it. However, it seems that Tears of the Kingdom could have an even longer-lasting influence. Alongside the impressive devices and creations that the community has come up with, there is now a wave of videos showcasing the game’s musical capabilities.

Exploring the musical aspect of Tears of the Kingdom

What the community is doing is using stakes and lasers (or other objects) to create musical notes. These notes can then be connected through specific stake placements and item manipulation. It’s incredibly accessible for anyone who wants to experiment, as they can easily gather stakes from a Zonai device dispenser and try their hand at creating music in an open field.

For a short tutorial on this technique, check out this video from Twitter user bran8bit.

The community has taken this knowledge and run with it. For example, Twitter user kabukichi00 has used an existing in-game platform to perfectly recreate the iconic “Song of Storms” track. Check out their creation here.

Another impressive clip comes from kody_botw, who demonstrates how players can manually create music by manipulating a laser cannon with the Ultrahand accessory and even play along with the game’s background track. Watch the clip here.

And then there’s noteabletony, who takes it a step further by incorporating a minecart into their musical creation. Watch their clip here.

As for me, I still have more to explore in Street Fighter 6 and Diablo 4, but I’m definitely going to spend my evening diving into the musical world of Tears of the Kingdom. I wouldn’t be surprised if, in just a week’s time, someone manages to create a full symphony using the game’s unique music creation mechanics.
